Specialty Theatre was commissioned to install an acoustic treatment solution to divide the St Kilda Town Hall. The install had to match the historical feel of the room while utilising the strength and durability of modern equipment.
To fit within the heritage requirements of the building, the solution was to use double layered 400GSM wool curtains dyed to specified colours. The curtains are hung using STS075 heavy duty track and STS080 runners.
Each curtain has holding tabs to a height of six feet and a custom double leading-edge-car to ensure that they hang properly without gapping between joins. The tie-backs are handmade specific to the needs of the installation.
Overall, feedback from the client was pretty positive:
“My dividing curtain project at the St Kilda Town Hall was on the face of it a fairly straight forward looking affair. At all times during the project Jim from Specialty kept me in the loop with the status of production and manufacture. When there were speed bumps he always was quick to advise where things were at and where we were to go from there. The added bonus to us was the ability to have our curtains custom dyed to the exact colours we desired. Through out installation period, the staff who worked on my project were great. Their workmanship was excellent and I’m very happy with the outcome.”
